Conflict Resolution Pays Big Dividends

Why Resolve Workplace Disputes With The CALM Dialogue?

Did you know that on average, employees spend about 2.8 hours a week dealing with conflict? Evidently, that works out to over $359 billion annually. That is an astronomical amount of money that can potentially be saved if companies were able to effectively deal with workplace disputes. Therefore, it would be in a company’s best interest to have processes in place to manage conflict when it inevitably arises.

Furthermore, there is a positive correlation between conflict management and employee job satisfaction. This is important because when employees are happy at work they do not quit. In brief, a reduction in the turnover rate equates to savings for a company’s recruitment budget. In fact, the cost of replacing an employee can range anywhere from 150 percent to 200 percent of the salary of the employee being replaced.

Ultimately, resolving conflict by employing alternative dispute resolution tactics like the CALM Dialogue is good for business. When disputes are resolved rapidly productivity increases. Simply stated, swift dispute resolution enables employees to focus their attention on work, not conflict. Without a doubt, workplace conflict is unavoidable and expensive. However, by utilizing the CALM Dialogue’s easy 4-step process, companies can navigate conflict quickly and effectively.

Reduce Stress and Anxiety

2-Minute Relaxation Exercise

Please read these instructions before you begin.

If you are anxious or nervous about a situation you can use the following exercise to relax. Once you are relaxed you can then have a CALM Dialogue about the situation at hand.

Start

Set a soothing alarm on your phone to go off in 2 minutes.

Sit with you head, neck and spine aligned.

Close your eyes.

Focus on your breathing.

If any thought s come in your mind just dismiss them.

Swipe them out of your mind. The same way you swipe the images off your phone.

Don’t go deep into any thought.

Don’t hold on to any thought.

Try to focus on your breath.

Your can imagine that you are looking up at the clouds in the sky.

Pretend they are floating by.

With practice you will be able to fully relax.

End

After 2 minutes have elapsed you will hear the sound of your alarm.

Slowly open your eyes.

That will conclude your 2-minute relaxation exercise.
